MAREAS Website Privacy, Content and Copyright Statement

I. Purpose and Scope

This website is maintained by Ipas, acting on behalf of the MAREAS Consortium, which includes CLACAI, Médecins du Monde, and Reprod'Action Santé. MAREAS is supported by the French Development Agency.

Data collected through the MAREAS website is managed by Ipas and used solely for purposes related to the implementation of the MAREAS project, including project administration, communications, grant-making, monitoring, evaluation and learning activities. As the lead organization of the MAREAS Consortium, Ipas is the custodian of information collected through the website and is responsible for its management and protection.

Information submitted through MAREAS grant applications will be used exclusively for purposes related to application review, due diligence, grant management, monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting requirements associated with the MAREAS project.

Ipas is committed to handling personal data lawfully, fairly, and transparently and in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the principles of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Personal data collected through the MAREAS website will:

  • Be collected for specified and legitimate purposes;
  • Be limited to information that is relevant and necessary;
  • Be kept accurate and updated when required;
  • Be retained only for as long as necessary;
  • Be protected against unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, or misuse; and

Grant applications and personal information provided through MAREAS website may be reviewed by MAREAS consortium members and Regional Committee members involved in funding decisions. Information provided by applicants, grantees, participants, and partners may be used to prepare aggregated analyses, program reports, impact assessments, lessons learned, and donor reports. Where possible, reporting information will be anonymised, aggregated, or de-identified. Personal information will only be disclosed where necessary to meet legal, contractual, donor, audit, or accountability obligations and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

2.3. Data Protection and Safeguarding

Access to MAREAS website data shall be limited to authorized individuals affiliated with the MAREAS project. Ipas's hosting provider maintains its systems in accordance with reasonable industry standards to safeguard personal data. Ipas takes additional data protection and safeguarding measures, which include the secure destruction of media and materials containing personal data.

In the event of a personal data breach, Ipas will take immediate action to assess and contain the incident, mitigate any potential harm to affected individuals, and, where required by law, provide the necessary notifications within the applicable legal timeframes, including within 72 hours where relevant. Ipas will also implement appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

III. Regulatory Framework and Legal Requirements

Ipas Privacy Policy has been updated to reflect the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), that came into effect on May 25, 2018. While GDPR applies to individuals residing in the European Union, Ipas extends these protections to all users, regardless of location.

In line with the GDPR, we commit to ensure that personal data is collected only for legitimate purposes, we limit data to what is necessary, keep it accurate and secure, retain it only as long as needed, and maintain appropriate safeguards and accountability measures to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws.

While the use of data collected through MAREAS is reserved to MAREAS teams and members, Ipas may process and disclose personal data where necessary to comply with legal or regulatory obligations, protect or enforce its legal rights, or support the sale, transfer, or reorganization of all or part of the website. Ipas may also disclose personal data when it reasonably believes such disclosure is required by law, a court order, or a competent regulatory authority. This may include funders and auditors.
